The 2020 BMW 4-Series exemplifies the brand’s luxurious heritage and renowned driving experience. There’s a fast coupe for thrill-seekers and a hard-top convertible for sun worshippers.
While a four-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available, the powerful six-cylinder engine is silky smooth and incredibly fuel-efficient.
Despite the interior’s subdued style and lack of cubby storage, the cabin is quiet and spacious. The 4 comes equipped with numerous desired features and provides a plethora of luxury extras, although the latter may quickly bloat the bottom line. Nonetheless, the 2020 4-Series remains a typical BMW, with a delightfully firm ride and excellent handling.
The 2020 4-Series remains mostly unaltered, although the coupe and convertible gain additional standard equipment and options. Driver assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, pedestrian recognition, lane departure warning, and others are now standard.
Minor design changes include darker taillights, black grille surrounds, and a revised rear diffuser. Mocha Dakota leather, carbon-fiber trim, new wheel designs, and new paint colors are among the other 2020 upgrades.
Power, Efficiency, and Transmission
The 430i is driven by a 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, while the 440i is powered by a 320-hp turbocharged inline-six that lives up to BMW’s reputation for producing superb engines. Although the rear-wheel drive is standard, all versions are available with an all-wheel drive.
Both engines provide plenty of forwarding thrusts to keep things interesting. The most recent 440i coupe tested ran from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, faster than any competitor. While an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, select versions may be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. For no-holds-barred performance, go no further than the hard-core BMW M4.
Whereas the basic 4-Series won’t give you a white-knuckle ride, its chassis quickly adjusts to the spirited character of twisting backroads or the relaxing comfort of black-top boulevards.
Still, the BMW is at its finest while speeding along a winding road with minimum physical movement, its strongest characteristic is its mix of energetic handling and a controlled ride. For a car inspection, visit the BMW service center Dubai.
Design, Capacity, and Luxury
The inside of a sports vehicle must cater to the driver, but the interior of a luxury automobile must be comfortable. With a superb driver seat and extensive passenger amenities, the 4-Series achieves both. Nevertheless, its materials and finishes are becoming outmoded.
The M Sport package includes a one-of-a-kind leather-wrapped steering wheel that looks and feels fantastic. The usual rear sports seats are supportive but overly hard, particularly on prolonged excursions.
While two doors may imply limited boot space, the 4 has more than most of its competitors. With the rear seats folded, the coupe fit four carry-ons, but inside cubby storage is limited, forcing us to rely on the cupholders. A midline pass-through is possible in the rear seat, although throwing the outboard seatbacks requires the use of trunk unlock handles.
Networking and infotainment
The iDrive infotainment system from BMW is aesthetically attractive, and the lack of a touchscreen means no finger smudges. While Apple CarPlay is included, Android Auto is not.
A digital display, resembling a propped-up tablet, stands atop the console. It’s controlled by a rotational knob on the dashboard, which is flanked by identical buttons for easy access.
